THE CREATIVITY WIZARD

DEAR CREATIVITY WIZ....
I am not comfortable with the MYSTERY of my art.
I am very reluctant to step into the unknown of where my art
may be taking me. I am afraid of things that go BUMP and BOO in the dark.
Where can I find the courage necessary to move forward?

DEAR: SPOOKY
With Halloween on the horizon....it is no wonder that
you are being easily spooked.....tis the season ya know!
Goblins, Spooks and BoogieMen are abounding in our imaginations!
But more often than not we tend to scare ourselves
out of our art than let our fears point us in the direction we need to go.

Realizing that your fears are never completely going to go away,
they are here for the long haul of your journey.
They can be great traveling companions and when kept in
proportion and perspective they serve our art well.

Since we are talking about our art....nothing is life threatening here.
Fear is simply our dreams calling us forward into new territory.
Ya it might feel scary...but just for a while...until it turns into
the excitement of daring ourselves to try something new.

As artists we are alchemizers.....wizards if you will....
who have great power and magic to transform energy.
All artists alchemize....our invitation is to alchemize
all of our fears/emotions into CREATIVE FUEL
and then make art with that fuel.
Then keep all that you are doing in the DOABLE RANGE of your life.

Whenever you feel fear...just know...that your art is saying YES.
I invite you to welcome in the spooks and the unknown,
they are great teachers and challenge us forward.
As artists, we are always (consciously or not) structuring and restructuring
our creativity into the magic that keeps our art alive and moving forward.
The more fear you feel...the more magic you have to work with.

Now polish up your magic wand with this mantra....
